Why do we need to protect mangrove forests?
Mangrove forests play an important role for coastal communities, marine biota, and other animals that live in them.
- Mangrove store 3-5 times more carbon than land tropical forests.
- More than 75% of tropical fish species that have economics value spend their lives in mangroves.
- Mangrove that are managed effectively and sustainably can be a source of income, provide protection, and food for the community.
